‘Murdies’ View Our 9th Hole looking out to the Cromdale Hills.
Grantown on Spey Golf Club is a beautiful parkland course located in the Cairngorm National Park in Scotland and is a short walk from the picturesque Highland town from which it gets its name.
With wonderful views of the distant Cairngorms, the course splits naturally into three sections. The first six holes are fairly flat and parkland giving a gentle introduction to its delights. It then tightens considerably over the next six holes, the course path taking you through ancient woodland, the trees towering above and their canopy filtering the sunlight. The closing six holes take you over undulating parkland, close to the village edge, passing the curling pond and the iconic Aonagh woods. Wildlife abounds, hare, roe deer, red squirrel, oyster catchers and Buzzards.
The clubhouse is a friendly bright welcoming space with indoor and outdoor seating placed to further enjoy the spectacular mountain views.
The undisputed signature hole, Murdie’s View is the 9th, a 275-yard downhill par-4 that is blessed with a spectacular backdrop of the beautiful Cromdale Hills framed by pine trees stretching far into the distance. To come when the purple heather on the hills is in bloom is a memory etched.
The course though not long, at 5710 yards and a par of 70 presents a fair challenge for every calibre of golfer. After finishing your round be sure to sit and take in the atmosphere of a true Highland golf course.
